Major League BaseballMLB – Major League Baseball; North American professional baseball, made up of two leagues, the American League and the National League, comprising a total of 30 teams.

NBA – Nation Basketball League; North American professional basketball, made up of a total of 30 teams.

NCAA Men’s Basketball – National Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Division 1 basketball, made up of 32 Division 1 conferences involving 347 schools.

NFL – National Football League; North American professional football, made up of two conferences, the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference, comprising a total of 32 teams.

percentage – a share or proportion of a whole. A percentage (%) of wins can be computed by dividing the wins by the total number of instances. Example: wins: (30); losses (10); total instances: (30 + 10 = 40); wins divided by total instances (30/40 = .75): 75%. Note: past winning records are not a guarantee of future performance.

probability – the proportion to which a win or loss is likely to occur, measured by the percentage of wins to losses. See percentage.

streak – consecutive wins or losses. Don’t trust the streak.
